Rumors or gossiping is pointless and inane because one is making false statements about other person. It does no good at all. And I don't find it fun at all.Why would some people make false rumors about others?

People make rumors for personal entertainment or gain in social situations. Don't let them get to you, chick, and don't sink to their level.Why would some people make false rumors about others?
It is interesting entertainment. It is about someone you know, and the thought of it being true often changes your perception of them. It is usually harmless fun. Some people can overstep some boundaries, but I think it makes a person stronger mentally if you are 'teased'. If you they say you did something that you didn't, why get upset about it? That is the reason they started the rumor in the first place. If someone asks if it is true, all you have to do is say no. You know the truth and you don't have to give them the satisfaction of freaking out about it.
