What gave republicans the false impression that health care reform is up for debate?

President Obama told the country that if we elect him he will reform health care. We elected him to do so. Now the bill has been drawn up and the republicans asked for a month to read it. It's not up for debate they get to read it then in September we will pass it with or without them.What gave republicans the false impression that health care reform is up for debate?
I believe that everyone should be allowed to debate the bill. However, Republicans have not offered any alternatives to health care reform other than ';no.'; Thus, Democrats should feel free to put a robust health care bill without their support since there isn't any true debate going on.





Even if Obama did everything the Republicans wanted, they'd still blame him for everything.What gave republicans the false impression that health care reform is up for debate?
Well this is exactly the kind of thinking that is going to bring this country to its knees. I understand that people want health care reform. But to say that you will accept anything that Washington puts out is probably the most foolish thing I have ever heard anyone say. You sound like you dont even want a debate. You just want it passed and then we will find out what it says later. Lets say for example that it does pass but then after the fact you find out that there is a clause in there that says that anyone over the age of 35 with the exception of elected officials and their families should be euthanized. Will you be so willing to accept it then? You really want elected officials having that much control over your life that you would let them pass a bill with this much at stake without anyone knowing what was in it?
Sorry, honey. It IS up for debate. The debate is going on. Obama does NOT have the support in the Senate to pass this awful bill. It now looks like he never will. He has no other choice but to debate. If he and Nancy Pelosi HAD the votes, they would have called a vote already and passed it through quickly. They are trying to convince OUR Senators to get onboard. We're simply reminding these senators who they work for...and it is NOT Obama.





Support for the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low. Just 42% favor the plan while 53% are opposed. Other data shows that 51% fear the federal government more than private insurance companies. Forty-one percent (41%) fear the insurance companies more. Overall, 32% favor a single-payer health care system for the U.S. while 57% are opposed.

All members of Congress represent taxpaying Americans. You know, the people who actuall pay for it. If the majority of their constituents don't like the bill they should vote against it.





The issue isn't really about health care, it's about creating millions of new government jobs, and that's something we don't need.
He was elected on many other ';promises'; that he broke.





And he was elected after promising healthcare reform. He wasn't elected based on the verbage of the current bill.





Many of us don't have a problem with healthcare reform. We just don't like how BO is going about it.

The Republicans thought the legislative process include debating a bill that has an affect on 1/7 of the United States Economy.





Remember, 2010 is not far a way. The voters are very angry at the arrogance of the ruling party in congress. This is why the voters will revolt in 2010.

';we'; will pass it? Get a clue. Members of the House and Senate are in it for THEMSELVES. Not for us, not for Obama. They want to be re-elected. And MANY of those who vote for this abortion of our constitution will lose their jobs, thankfully.

Republicans in Washington are just as crooked as Obama. The people who are against the bill are independent traditionalist Americans, who, by the way, far out number the people who want this bill to pass.

I think someone ask the president this very question yesterday and he restated that if the republicans don't come on board soon the democrats will pass health care reform along .
