Do Americans possess a false sense of security when it comes to resisting the advances of the fashion industry?

I'm writing an essay on Americans being unable to form their own opinions in terms of fashion. I would like an honest answer of how you feel about the 'superficial' image the fashion industry enforces or if you even think one exists and how or how it doesn't sway your decision to purchase certain goods.Do Americans possess a false sense of security when it comes to resisting the advances of the fashion industry?
Most Americans are all, ';look what they're wearing on .....whatever their favorite show is..... I'll go buy that!'; I hate that. I'm a total non-conformist so you'll never see me doing that. I Buy my stuff from thrift stores or make it myself. I end up with neat and original stuff. Have I answered your question?Do Americans possess a false sense of security when it comes to resisting the advances of the fashion industry?
i really dislike how everyone goes and buys what the daily trend is. i keep it simple. plain white t's, or black or any other dark color and faded jeans. i really hated how everyone started wearing obama shirts. where are they now??

also, fvck obama. he is corruption in disguise.
some americans have there head up there *** about that stuff and try to be what they see on tv but im a stoner i dont really care what i dress like
