I have been cramping and miserable for over a week and I am due on Tuesday, I am not sure if I will be able to tell when I really need to get to the hospital. How can I tell the difference between false and real labor pains?
real labor symptoms are contractions that are regular and and come more frequent. Dont be ashamed if you are feeling this way go to your labor and delivery to be evaluated , its ok to be sent home I did that with my first , i was up there every week until i had her :)How can I tell the difference between false and real labor pains?
Real labor pains are consistent , u will be able to time them. False really have no pattern!
Sweetie i know how you feel! Ive been having false labor for almost 2 weeks now! I'm due on the 31st. Real labor pains are consistent and get more intense as time passes. They will also not stop or decreases with activity like false labor pains do. If you think your in labor don't be afraid to go to the labor and delivery unit to be checked! They will certainly be happy to check you! Your almost there! Good Luck!
Real labor won't/ shouldn't stop but false will. You can still have false labor pains apart 3-5 minutes. If your water breaks you will need to go to the hospital. If you feel like you need to continue to pee could be the real thing. Good Luck.
you will know belive me they hurt like hell and you can just tell when your going in to labor.
I copied and pasted this from one my earlier answers ; )
Hope it helps!!
For most women, contractions comes first. These can be felt as lower back pain, menstrual like craps, or sometimes just slight tightening of the belly. This is when mama's go to the hospital and are told to it's not time yet and sent home. The contractions are there, usually 10 or more minutes apart and are very mild to moderate, but this stage could last a day or even go away. You are encouraged to walk, walk, walk!! If the contractions go way while walking, then its braxton hicks : ( . If it's true labor the contractions should start picking up in frequency and intensity. You should go to the hospital when the contractions are 5 minutes apart.
Of course, if your water breaks, or you start bleeding (actually bleeding, not just mucus with blood, which happens when you start dilating) you should go immediately to the hospital! Good luck!
Other symptoms could include;
*feeling constipated
*diarrhea, usually in the early stages of labor
*nausea/vomiting usually during the final stages of labor
*shivering (though your not cold) usully during the final stages and immediatly post partum
u will know it is like the worst cramps u will ever fell and it keeps comin if u feel like u need to go to the hospital go
I felt the same way with my first baby. But when it started, I knew. Here are some pointers:
Timing of contractions
False labor: Contractions are often irregular and do not get closer together.
True labor: Contractions come at regular intervals and get closer together as time goes on. (Contractions last about 30 to 70 seconds.)
Change with movement
False labor: Contractions might stop when you walk or rest, or might even stop when you change position.
True labor: Contractions continue, despite moving or changing positions.
Strength of contractions
False labor: Contractions are usually weak and do not get much stronger. (They might be strong first, then get weaker.)
True labor: Contractions steadily increase in strength.
Pain of contractions
False labor: Contractions are usually only felt in the front of the abdomen or pelvic region.
True labor: Contractions usually start in the lower back and move to the front of the abdomen.
Also, take your husband out walking with you. Walking can help kick start labor. So can sex, but the last thing I wanted to do was have sex. Raspberry tea is also said to help kick start labor.
Hope this helps! Good luck, you'll do great!
i think you'll understand labour pains, they're frequent, and they start becoming more sore as time goes by. good luck
